History

Choose a subject

The History curriculum is designed in a chronological way with common ‘drivers’ of history being embedded throughout. Some of these being power, religion and the role of women. Within this, we challenge students to think about how events of the past can be linked together. To develop this, the use of Big Questions helps bring students learning together. Topics have been chosen to not only understand why the world is the way it is, but also be reflective of our community and discover students' own history. This is why we look to explore History on a local, national and global scale. Looking from different perspectives to see History from the ‘top down’ but also ‘bottom up’. Central to this is the development of core historical skills. Students learn to use second order concepts, work with primary sources and historians’ interpretations to think critically and challenge the narrative.
