I'm Mr Yau and I am delighted to welcome you to our Sixth Form page at Denmark Road High School. As Head of Key Stage 5, I have the privilege of working with our dedicated Sixth Form Team and our brilliant young adults as they make exciting steps towards their future. We are proud of the diversity which is represented at Sixth Form and the personalised pathways which our students choose ensure we meet their ambitious goals. We strive for a nurturing environment which enables our students to flourish before they move on in their respective fields.

Mrs Vicki Mannion
Associate Senior Leader: Head of Sixth Form

Hello everyone, I’m Mrs Mannion. I’m proud to be able to work with my exceptional tutor team to support our young people through two of the most important, challenging and exciting years of their lives. A really important part of my role is ensuring that students are prepared for the world beyond school and ‘The Edge’ programme does just that by encouraging students to engage in activities and schemes that focus on personal growth, leadership and supra-curricular experiences.

Mrs Lindsay Harvey
Sixth Form Student Support

I'm Mrs Harvey, and I am part of the Sixth Form team.  I have been working with young people for over twelve years and love the energy and excitement that they bring to each day.

My role is to work with individual students and the wider Sixth Form community to ensure every student gets the support they need to grow in confidence, to flourish and to succeed at Denmark Road.  I work with students for a variety of reasons including academic mentoring and pastoral support.  This could include developing positive working habits and skills in planning and organisation.  It could be on a personal level, offering that much-needed listening ear. Throughout my years there has been one incontrovertible constant: Any issue, whether big or small, can be overcome by working through it together.  I am here to do just that.

Miss Ellie Dimery
Student Wellbeing Support

My role is to support you and your wellbeing in whatever capacity I can. Some days you may need someone to talk to, others you may need some support with a school system or you may just need a safe space to just 'be'. I am always on hand to support you, especially if you don't know what it is you need or where next to go, I can help. Beyond our in-house, expert support team we also work with a variety of agencies who can offer further specialist support such as Young Minds Matter, CAHMS, Early Help, GDAS, Social Services and Young Gloucestershire.

Mrs Jo Cooper
Sixth Form Study Support
cooperj@denmarkroad.org

I am Mrs Cooper and I am part of the Sixth Form Team. I have been fortunate enough to have worked alongside young people in schools for twenty five years.

In my role as Sixth Form Study Support, I work with both individual students and larger groups. I like to ensure that group study areas are quiet and conducive to independent study which is the backbone of academic success. I liaise with subject teachers and work in conjunction with them and individual students to best support them through their A-levels. This may range from personalised study support plans, going through effective revision techniques and developing organisational skills that will benefit students as they transition on to Higher Education, Apprenticeships or employment.

Sixth Form Tutors

Sixth Form tutors will stay with their tutor groups throughout the whole Sixth Form experience and are a daily touchstone for their students.

As students progress into Year 13, our tutors form an integral part of the UCAS and apprenticeship application process by supporting the completion of personal statements and writing references. Sixth Form tutors know and understand their tutees and this provides great insight for Universities admissions tutors and potential future employers.
