House System, Sponsorship, School Fund, Dining Hall, Role of a Lifetime & Songs of Praise
The weeks are going past very quickly and the school has been busy with a number of different activities.
This year we have embarked on the further development of the House system. We have introduced regular House assemblies and a variety of different House events. Currently students are busy preparing for House Drama.
We are looking for local businesses to sponsor our Houses so that we can provide resources for House events. In return, the school would offer businesses the opportunity of advertising in the newsletter, on our website and also at school events. If anyone is interested in offering support in this way could they please contact Mrs Simpson at email@example.com. We are looking for sponsorship of approximately £250.
As we are nearing the end of Term 1 I need to mention the importance of School Fund as a means of supporting developments at the High School. The School Fund this year is £5 a month or £10 a term or £60 over the year. I would be grateful if parents would consider doing a standing order if you want to pay monthly or if you wish to pay it in one lump sum this can be done on Parent Pay. School Fund will be used for the benefit of students.
This is the High School for Girls’ School Fund account details:

The development of the dining hall is occurring very quickly and several parents have indicated that they would be interested in funding some of the furniture.
Therefore, I give details of the cost per unit of furniture which will match the furniture already in the old part of the dining room:
Stacking Chairs (36) £53.00 each.
Drum Stools (38) £87.00 each.
Dining Tables (20) £171.00 each.
Benching (2) £1021 per run (2282mm x 630mm deep x 900mm high).
(2) £522 per run (950mm x 630mm deep x 900mm high).
(1) £1361 per run (3050mm x 630mm deep x 900mm high).
If any parent wishes to make a donation can they please do this through Parent Pay.
Role of a lifetime
Two students from the High School for Girls performed in the opera ‘Carmen’ at the Everyman Theatre. They were Esme Crooknorth and Jasmine Summerhayer. The producer Alexey Ignatow indicated that the theatre’s long term project is to involve local choirs and to integrate them into future productions.
This opportunity was offered to Stagecoach Theatre Arts Company in Cheltenham.
Well done, Esme and Jasmine!
Songs of Praise
Several High School students and staff took part in the recording of hymns for Songs of Praise at All Saints Church in Cheltenham on Friday, 23rd September. The programme celebrates its fifty-fifth anniversary in October and the hymns recorded will feature in forthcoming editions of the programme. So please watch and see if you can spot who the students and staff are.
Some hymns will be used for the Remembrance Day programme while others will be used in the lead up to Christmas.
Congratulations go to everyone who took part.
I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
With my best wishes
