Welcome, Results, PTA AGM, School times, Dining hall extension, Year 12 Welcome evening
Welcome to a new academic year. I hope everyone had a good holiday over the summer. A particular welcome to all the new parents of students.
The start of the year has gone well. We have been delighted to maintain excellent GCSE results which place us in 2nd place in Gloucestershire after Pate’s. Our national ranking is 93rd, which is above the other Gloucestershire Grammar Schools. Our headline figures are:
% A* - A 71.2%
% A* - C 99.4%
The school achieved excellent A Level results with 76.6% of results being at A* - B and 41.6% being at A* - A. This is a phenomenal achievement and we are delighted that the majority of students achieved their university places.
Congratulations go to all Year 11 and 13 students.
We request that no student should be on the school site before 7.30am as there are no staff available before this time and under Health and Safety regulations the school cannot take responsibility for the students.
ALL MAIN SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO ARRIVE BETWEEN 7.30am AND 8.00am MUST GO TO MU3 AND MUST NOT WANDER AROUND THE SCHOOL SITE. SIXTH FORM STUDENTS MAY GO TO THE COMMON ROOM.
A reminder that school closes at 2.30pm on Wednesday, 14th September for Prize-giving.
YEAR 12 WELCOME EVENING
Thank you to all parents who attended this important event. The Powerpoint from the event will be sent to you as soon as we have parental email addresses on the system.
If there are any parents that can help with the second hand uniform sale from 2.30-4.30pm on Thursday, 22nd September can they please get in touch with the PTA on PTA@hsfg.org. Your help would be gratefully appreciated for this important service to parents.
The PTA AGM will take place on 10th October at 7.00pm in the main school hall. Details can be found on the News Section of the school website and also under Parental Information – PTA.
I hope that many parents will attend as the PTA are amazing in providing resources and equipment for the students to use such as lockers, the minibus, equipment for some departments etc.
DINING HALL EXTENSION
The foundations for the dining hall extension have been laid as can be seen in the photograph below. This new space more than doubles the size of the dining hall. The new structure will be going up in the next 6-8 weeks. My thanks go once gain to the parents who have donated the money for this new facility. The students will certainly benefit from your generosity.
We are looking forward to another successful year.
