Microsoft Office Specialist 4 Nations Championship 2019

On Friday 14th June, 4 of our Year 10 students (Miranda Gough, Cara Plumridge, Milly Robertson & Kassie Whereat-Hill) travelled up to The British Library, London, for the annual “Microsoft Office Specialist 4 Nations Finals 2019”.

The school has offered this vocational qualification to all Year 10 students for the last 4 years. Most universities offer this course but very few schools. Simply by sitting an exam students are automatically entered into the national competition (as they are between 13 & 23 years of age). Approximately 40, 000 people sit the range of qualifications annually. Thus, for two students to qualify in the top 2 places for Microsoft Word and another two for Microsoft PowerPoint in England was simply incredible.

Upon arrival at the venue the students were given a welcome talk before sitting a further test. They were then given a group task based around MineCraft whereby they could win further prizes. Sadly, none of our students were lucky in this challenge…

however… late afternoon arrived so we headed for the final presentation ceremony and we were preparing ourselves for our journey home. Then the compere announced that Milly Robertson was the UK Champion for Microsoft Word 2019!!! Not only has she won this amazing accolade but she has also won an all-expenses paid trip to New York for the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2019 on July 28th-31st.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all 4 girls for the fantastic achievement in reaching the UK Finals and to wish Milly all the best of luck for the New York competition… have a FABULOUS TIME and enjoy every minute!!!
