Following government reform of A Levels the school's policy is for the majority of students to commit to a study programme of 3 A Levels plus enrichment and EPQ. Students can, however, study 4 A Levels as appropriate to their need. All subjects are 2 year courses, examinations will be sat during the summer of Year 13. We do offer 2 AS Level courses, Art and Mathematics, these may be studied alongside the student's 3 A Level choices.
All students have timetabled lessons, and an additional assessment lesson for each subject, and ‘free’ study periods each week, with the exact construction of their timetable depending on the different choice of subjects they have made. We expect our students to become independent learners during their time in the Sixth Form, and, with our support and guidance, to achieve a seamless transition from GCSE to A Level and beyond. If a student does struggle to manage the transition from GCSE to A Level study themselves, additional support is given by the Sixth Form team to enable them to take on this responsibility themselves.
For the academic year 2020-21 we are asking students wishing to join us in our Sixth Form to opt for four subjects from the following list (and subject to availability across the pools).
The subject pages for 2020-21 will be available before our Information Evening in January 2020.
