Sixth Form is a valuable time to hone and develop leadership skills before moving on to university, apprenticeships or employment. Our leadership roles offer our students the opportunity to gain experience of working with a wide range of people in a variety of different areas of the school.
Senior Student Team
Our senior student team are very much the leaders of student voice, each member of the team is attached to a year group who they work with closely when leading student voice. In addition to this they have significant links to their roles, for example charity fund raising and marketing. They are a very visible part of the school and are well-respected by other students.
The House system is a core pillar of the whole school and each of our Houses is ably led by elected Sixth Form Leaders who do a fantastic job in building House pride. House officials include Music and Drama, Sports and House Leaders.
Sixth Form Peer Supporters
We also appreciate that leadership can take various different forms and is not just about being good at public speaking.
We have a fantastic team of Sixth Form “peer supporters” who work with younger students in the school every lunch time. They help students to manage friendship issues, organisation problems and other worries; they offer a friendly face to a number of students.
Sixth Form students are also given the opportunity to be “Library Prefects”, this team are always a tremendous asset to the day to day running of the LRC.
Training is provided for students undertaking leadership roles. All students in the Sixth Form are expected to take an active role in supporting school events throughout the year.
Our Sixth Form are a very visible part of day-to-day life at Denmark Road.
