Within our Sixth Form, students engage in the INVEST curriculum. Named by our student body to reflect the investment students make in their futures, the programme is designed to enable students to engage in wider areas beyond the academic curriculum.
INVEST takes place on Thursday afternoons and the current options are as follows:
Students are able to opt for a work experience placement as an INVEST option. This is a superb opportunity for students and currently over 50% of our students attend a weekly placement.
Weekly work experience throughout Year 12 is obviously a great way to gain valuable experience and it can help tremendously when applying to either university or an apprenticeship in Year 13.
Students can decide to have one placement throughout Year 12 or opt for two or three places to maximise their range of experience.
Students are encouraged to source their own placements or use our extensive directory of previous employers; however we will support students if they are struggling to find their own placement.
NB All Year 12 students undertake a week of work experience in Term 6 in addition to the INVEST offer.
A beginners' course aimed at achieving basic GCSE Level. Topics include 'Myself and Family', 'Free Time' and 'Work and Education'.
Students can learn organisation, leadership and communication skills through sport by working with a variety of different pupils from local primary schools.
The Arts Award
This award enable students to grow as artists and arts leaders, inspiring them to connect with and take part in the wider arts world through setting personal challenges in an art form of their choice - from fashion to film making, pottery to poetry.
Students can develop a number of skills from the basics of photography through to lighting, portraiture, still life, fashion photography and digital manipulation.
