Art Enrichment

The art rooms are a hive of activity at lunchtimes, Years 7-9 can participate in a variety of extra-curricular Art clubs ranging from creating the set design for the school show, workshops run by older students, Year 7 Art club, House Art and Photography Competitions.
Enrichment Curriculum
Once a fortnight Year 7 and 8 students participate on a termly rotation in the enrichment curriculum. In Art, students explore Arts and Craft with Ms Murphy, producing items to take home, and with Mrs Williams students explore digital animation, creating stop motion films.
Year 8 students participate in the Arts INVEST day, exploring a wide range of creative workshops within the Arts centred around a particular theme. Last year, students explored different cultures, creating Aboriginal patterns on leaves and turning them into mobiles and designing their own henna patterns to draw onto bookmarks.

Students can continue working on their coursework independently at lunchtimes and are invited to attend skills workshops where they are shown a new skill. Other opportunities include, becoming an Arts leader, trips and visits to galleries and exhibitions, internal and external competition opportunities including House Art and Photography. Our A Level students won the National YPO Young Artist Award for the last two years, having images of their work published.
Additional workshops take place throughout the course led by visiting artists, artist and ex-student talks about their own practice and Higher Education, opportunities to run workshops/clubs with younger students and life drawing workshops for KS5.

Career presentations and workshops are also introduced in KS4 and 5 with a variety of visiting speakers from different institutions.
