Entry into the Sixth Form

Applications from both internal and external students who wish to join the High School Sixth Form for their Post-16 education are welcomed.

Minimum qualifying academic requirements apply equally to internal and external applicants.

There are clear entry requirements, which each student must satisfy, in order to study at the High School Sixth form.  These are outlined below. They are designed to help to ensure that students will be able to achieve success in their studies.

Academic entry requirements

These entry requirements are published annually to all applicants.

Students will need to meet all of the following requirements for entry into the Denmark Road Sixth Form:

  • A minimum of six subjects at 9-6 grade (or equivalent) at GCSE Level.
  • Students should have a minimum of Grade 5 in both GCSE English or English Literature and Mathematics.
  • In addition, students must achieve the standard required by the individual subjects.  Subject specific requirements are listed on each subject profile on the website in the subject choices booklet.

All applications will be online through our dedicated admissions portal.  From this you will be able to apply, choose your options, arrange informal discussions and track your application progress.   Online applications will open from 24 January 2019.
Year 12 Induction Day in on Thursday 27th June 2019.

Internal Applications

The vast majority of students from the Denmark Road High School continue from Year 11 into the High School Sixth Form.  It is the intention of the School to offer all girls a place in the High School Sixth Form, subject to their meeting the entry requirements.

External Applications

The Governing Body would expect to admit approximately 50 external entrants to the High School Sixth Form.  Applicants will be invited for an informal discussion with a senior member of teaching staff, but this will only be to advise on suitability of A Level courses for which they have applied and to give careers advice on choice of the Sixth Form courses.
