Chess Tournament
High School for Girls hosted a chess tournament against Longlevens School this week.
The competitors performed exceptionally well, especially considering many of our students were playing in their first competitive tournament. The High School Chess Team is selected from the top ten players in this year's chess league and consisted of students from Years 7 and 8. There were some fantastic individual performances with standout wins for Vinuji Gomes, Ella Payne and Abigail Russell. The tournament was extremely tight with all matches played being very close. However, on this occasion, we were pipped at the post with Longlevens taking victory; 24 points to 16. The team now return to training, enthused about competing in future tournaments during the next academic year.
