100th Anniversary of 1918 Armistice
As nobody could fail to notice, we are swiftly approaching the 100th anniversary of the 1918 Armistice
To mark this commemoration, the Carnegie Writers at the High School, helped by Ms Cordall, are taking on a project this year to find out something about how our 'Denmark Road' girls contributed to the First World War. If you have any information about this, maybe from local great-grandparents, I'm sure they'd appreciate it - please let us know.
For this week and next, we thought it would be appropriate for us to find out and remember something about a member of our own families who were involved in this conflict, whether on the home front or in the military and wherever in the world they may have lived. Ask your parents and grandparents - they are usually very happy to share family stories! The LRC noticeboard will be cleared students are invited to bring in a picture and/or a few facts about a family member and pin them to the board. There will be red and white paper and card available to create their own poppies to pin on the board, if they wish.
We look forward to seeing this board filled up with names and memories from our own family histories!
