Cheltenham Literature Festival Visit
On Wednesday October 11, a team of seven students from Year 8 and Year 9 attended the Cheltenham Literature Festival.
They had prepared for weeks for a debate with six other Gloucestershire schools, to decide the Winner of Winners of the Carnegie Medal from the last eighty years. After a student spokesperson from each school had put forward their case and answered questions from Alex O'Connell, the children's editor of The Times, students from impartial observers, Marling and Newent Schools, voted. Our book, Northern Lights, by Philip Pullman came third. It was a great experience for all of us and has inspired our Team to become a writing group, meeting once a month in the LRC.
