Dining Hall Extension, Successful Safeguarding Bid, School Fund, Head Boy, Head Girl and Deputies Appointments
This term has flown past quickly and I cannot believe that Easter is upon us. The staff and students have been working hard to complete syllabi in preparation for GCSE and A Level examinations
I am delighted to report two great developments this term. The extension to the dining hall is finally open and all the furniture is in. Thank you to the parents who contributed to the furniture fund. I wish to once again thank all the parents, staff, governors and former Headteachers who took part in our capital fundraising event as the money you have given to the school has enabled us to build the dining room extension. We now look forward to the rest of the money coming in over the next two years so that we can build the drama studio. We have also received money from the Education Funding Agency for safeguarding our site. This will provide a much needed addition to the school which we have been asking for over the years.
Our School Fund is slowly growing and currently stands at £8916, however this is far short of the £49,000 we should be getting if all the parents paid the £60 for the academic year per student. This would go such a long way in improving things for your daughters and sons. Please can I ask parents to make this contribution, so that your daughters/sons can benefit from the developments.
I hope that you enjoy the various reports about activities, trips and visits that the students have engaged in over the last term, such as Red Nose Day, The Dragons’ Den competition, the German exchange, House competitions and many more. Yesterday Year 10 organised a very successful tea party for people from retirement homes. This was a fabulous event and many residents spoke about how much they enjoyed it. Well done, Year 10!
This is the time of year when I announce the new Head Girl, Head Boy and Deputy Head Girls for the academic year 2017-18. I am delighted to announce the new team:
Head Girl: Poppy Herold
Head Boy: Jacob Bidmead
Deputy Head Girls: Sophie Ellis, Anna Shearman
I look forward to working with the new team and wish to thank the current team of Isobel, Harrison, Charlotte and Emily for all their hard work throughout the last academic year. I am most grateful for the outgoing team for their contributions to school life and I wish them all the very best for their examinations and future.
It is with great sadness that I have decided to retire at Christmas 2017 after serving the school for the past decade. It has been an absolute privilege to have been given this wonderful opportunity to lead such a fantastic school, staff and students. It has been a very difficult decision to make but I feel it is time for someone else to take up the reins and I need to spend some time with my husband and family who have been so supportive during my Headship. It has been a great honour to walk in the footsteps of some wonderful former Headteachers. I can only assure you that I will continue to work hard for the rest of my time at the school and will make sure that there is a seamless transition to my successor.
May I wish everyone a wonderful Easter break.
