Discover Realise Honour Shape

Remembrance Assembly, Time to celebrate, Dining Hall, INVEST Day, Sponsorship of Houses and Trips and Visits

It has continued to be very busy over the last few weeks with a variety of activities occurring such as the Remembrance Day assembly.  The assembly focussed on the Battle of the Somme and the horrific conditions in which the soldiers found themselves as well as the large amount of casualties.  The students who attended the assembly were a real credit to the school.

Time to Celebrate!

I am delighted to announce that as a result of excellent GCSE and A Level results we are placed 6th in the South West for state schools and 48th nationally.  This is excellent news.  We were 105th last year nationally.

Spanish Exchange

The Spanish Exchange seems to have gone well and the students have had an excellent time with host families brushing up their English.  Thank you to all the parents who have hosted the Spanish students.

Year 11 Practice Interviews

We are still short of interviewers for this day.  If anyone can come and interview the students from 8.15am-2.00pm on Thursday, 8th December then please contact waringt@hsfg.org.

Sponsorship of Houses

The school is still looking for sponsorship of two Houses to the tune of £250.  If there is any company that would be willing to sponsor a House then can they please contact Mrs Simpson at simpsonj@hsfg.org.

New Dining Hall

Unfortunately we have not yet had the handover of the dining room extension, as with the rains last week we found two leaks which need to be dealt with.  The company is coming in next week to deal with these.  We will announce when the grand opening will be once all the snags have been sorted out and tests have been completed.

INVEST Days

The school is running the next INVEST day on Thursday, 2nd December.  Each year group will be involved in the following activities:

Year 7              International Day (Languages/PE).

Year 8              Maths Fair (Maths/Computing).

Year 9              Black Country Trip (Humanities).

Year 10            International Day (Languages/PE).

Year 11             Human Rights Day (Citizenship/Sociology).

Sixth Form    Study Skills Day (Elevate/Wellbeing).

We hope that all students have an exciting and interesting day.

Trips and Visits

The Finance Office has asked that parents do not tick the Parent Pay box unless they are definitely paying for a trip/visit on Parent Pay as this is causing a number of issues for the Finance Team as they have to do a number of checks.

The school would be grateful for your co-operation in this matter.
