House Dance 2021

We were really pleased to see a large number of students enter House Dance this year. Our theme was ‘Connection’, which we felt was prominent in the current situation, but also allowed for students own interpretation. Submissions were diverse and included a variety of styles such as contemporary, tap, cultural, lyrical and street. We are currently putting together a montage of the performances as they were so impressive!

Of course, everyone wants to know the outcome! We decided on five categories and here are the results…

Most emotive performance was awarded to Nia Rodway (8H). She performed a lyrical dance, which was beautifully choreographed and performed.

Best use of stimulus was awarded to Emily Walls (9Ba). She used a face covering to represent the struggles of recent times and each movement linked perfectly to the music.

Best cultural dance was awarded to Hannah Victor (9K). She performed a dynamic and complex Indian Bollywood dance, which was full of colour and vigour.

Best lyrical dance was awarded to Lucy Morgan (8Ba). She showed a very high level of technique and control, performing to a beautiful piece of music about Connection.

Best overall performance was awarded to Jasmine Went (7M). Jasmine found a poem about the Coronavirus and used this, alongside Connection, as her stimulus for the choreography of her dance. It was a breath-taking performance, showing an outstanding technical quality and emotive flair.

The Results!

Well done to everyone who was involved and well done to the winners!!!  We loved seeing all of your dances!
